Sarah Froese, LCSW (pronounced Frāys) is part of an outreach collaboration with Truman VA.
Sarah is the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP) Coordinator and also serves as the VISN 15 IPVAP Coordinator LEAD. Before implementing the IPVAP program, Ms. Froese provided oversight of the VA’s Homeless, Vocational, Peer Support and Veteran Justice Outreach programs for over a decade. Ms. Froese has extensive experience working with creative expression and community development. Ms. Froese’s education included special emphasis in therapeutic creative expression, in both her bachelors and master’s program from the University of Missouri. Sarah has introduced creative outlets in settings such as: psychiatric units, prisons, primary, secondary and higher educational systems, domestic violence shelters, deaf and hard of hearing institutions, substance use recovery programs and numerous retreat venues. The Transforming Trauma with Creative Expression Group for female Veterans provided by Ms. Froese was recognized as a best practice and commended for innovation and creativity during the Women Veterans Health Audit. Ms. Froese has received numerous accolades for her work with diverse and underserved populations which includes the coveted “VA Secretary’s Hands and Heart Award “. Sarah brings over 40 years of experience working in the behavioral health field. Her passion is fueled in finding creative solutions and focused outcomes for the voices which are often unheard and wounds that are invisible.
